Health and Safety Coordinator

The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for administering the health and safety protocols in place within the Flock. Our church and Flock has expectations for the management of youth and adult health and medical information. Ensuring the Flock meets these expectations is the first priority duty of the Health and Safety Coordinator.

As the Health and Safety Coordinator gains knowledge about best practices, the Health and Safety CCoordinatorair becomes an important resource to event leadership and the committee in general during planning.

Qualifications

  • Christian woman age 21 or older
  • Registered as an adult leader with Shepherd's Girls
  • Agree to the Shepherd's Church Volunteer Covenant and qualified for service

Core Duties

  • Process health and safety documentation from Flock membership, including reviewing for ambiguous information, seeking clarification, and ensuring orderly filing.
  • Prepare event leadership by highlighting relevant safety policies as well as preparing a trip folio of relevant health forms and records.
  • Review published health and safety policies and advise the Flock leadership on implementation.
  • Assist event leadership with risk assessment exercises.
  • Assist Training Chair with maintenance of records of First Aid certifications.
  • Manage incident reporting within the Flock: reports should be timely filed and Flock leadership always aware of the status of an incident.

Additional Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Flock leadership, pay active attention to Flock business and be able to accurately and thoughtfully represent the troop to others in the church and community.
  • Complete Shepherd's Girls training during first year of service.

Timing of Duties

  • While the Health and Safety Coordinator does not have duties within the weekly meetings, the Health and Safety Coordinator should either be available to receive health forms or make arrangements as to who is receiving the forms in his place.
  • The Health and Safety Coordinator may need to occasionally review documents outside of meeting times or engage in the Flock planning process. Preparation of activity/trip folios is a time-sensitive task that will need to be completed in advance of a particular trip.
  • The Health and Safety Coordinator is welcome to attend campouts and activities to inform a practical understanding of the ministry's operations. It is not the expectation that the Health and Safety Chair normally serve in the event Health and Safety lead role (the individual managing first aid and H&S compliance during an event).
