Outdoor Event Facilitator (E/D)

The Outdoor Event Facilitator (E/D) is a member of the Emerald/Diamond leadership team who provides leadership on the logistical arrangements of our E/D outdoor events and campouts.

There is substantial possibility for confusion as to the role of this position. The “Outdoor Event Faciliator” is not responsible for outdoor skills instruction—that is a duty of the Unit Coordinator or her designee. The Outdoor Event Facilitator is responsible for the implementation of all outdoor activities. Individual activities may have a leader on point, and increasing responsibility for planning and implementation of Emerald/Diamond outdoor events rests with the Girl Leadership Conference (i.e. the youth leadership). Our ministry is working diligently to fully implement a girl led patrol method at the E/D level. Fully realized, planning for outdoor events will largely fall to girl leadership with a supporting role by the adults. An Outdoor Event Facilitator should embrace this vision and actively work to create opportunities for the girls to make decisions and implement processes themselves.

The Outdoor Event Facilitator is an important member of the Flock's adult leadership team. She is involved in the research and reservation of sites, advises on the planning requirements, and encourages the completion of our planning process.

The Outdoor Event Facilitator is responsible for supervising designated grub masters, providing guidance as to our Flock's best practices in outdoor meal planning.
