Service Coordinator

The Service Coordinator is responsible for the Flock's service projects and initiatives. As a Flock, we believe that we are called to serve others, and that part of this is engaging in purposeful service throughout the year. Our Topaz, Sapphire, Emerald, and Diamond members have specific service expectations for advancement, and are thus encouraged to join in service projects.

A Flock such as ours has many activities and initiatives going on any given point in time. The Service Coordinator fulfills a critical role in keeping service prominent in our planning. The ideal candidate has a deep personal commitment to service, combined with a creative resourcefulness needed for promote opportunity in a Flock of about 50 girls.

Qualifications

  • Christian woman age 18 or older
  • Registered as an adult leader with Shepherd's Girls
  • Agree to the Shepherd's Church Volunteer Covenant and qualified for service
  • Membership or regular attendance at Shepherd’s Church strongly encouraged.

Core Duties

  • Maintain relationships with church department and external organizations that would benefit from our service initiatives.
  • Advocate for opportunities to include service within our annual Flock plan.
  • Provide advice on youth initiative service projects in coordination with the Unit Coordinators.
  • Supervise calendaring, RSVPing, and administrative paperwork process for service-focused events.
  • Provide leadership to service team volunteers.

Additional Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Flock leadership, pay active attention to Flock business and be able to accurately and thoughtfully represent the Flock to others in the church and community.
  • Complete Shepherd's Girls training during first year of service

Timing of Duties

  • There are not weekly duties at the Flock meetings for the Service Coordinator. However, the Service Coordinator should be available for Monday meetings when needed based on the topic(s) of the meeting.
  • Most duties of the Service Coordinator are completed outside of the meeting time.
  • The Service Coordinator is encouraged to attend campouts and activities to inform a practical understanding of the ministry's operations. The Service Chair would often be present at major Flock service projects.
